CHDI works to improve practices and policies in children's mental health. Our current strategic goals for pediatric mental health care include:
- Developing a statewide system of multi-disciplinary child care consultation so that the health and mental health needs of children in child care settings will be identified and properly addressed by qualified consultants.
- Strengthening the link between behavioral health and primary care in various ways, including a pilot initiative at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) designed such that a full time behavioral health clinician is on-site in the Pediatric Practice at CCMC and the pediatricians have access to telephone consultation with child and adolescent psychiatrists.
In addition, CHDI works to identify, adopt, and implement evidence-based and best practices in mental and behavioral health through its Connecticut Center for Effective Practice (CCEP). For more information on CCEP’s activities, click on the link above.
