Cynthia Nichols, PhD, LCSW, LADC

Senior Project Coordinator

Cynthia (Cindy) Nichols joined CHDI in December of 2024 as a Senior Project Coordinator working on CHDI’s substance use initiatives including the new SBIRT-PATHS initiative to expand a community-based model of care for youth co-occurring services. Cindy recently completed her PhD at the UConn School of Social Work. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and School Social Worker in Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Massachusetts.

Cindy has over a decade of post-MSW clinical experience implementing evidence-based practices (CBT, DBT, MI) in outpatient methadone, inpatient detoxification, outpatient dual diagnosis, and psychotherapy settings. She was previously a T32 pre-doctoral fellow through NIDA’s Behavioral Sciences Training program at NYU and has research experience related to implementation science, substance use disorders, medications for opioid use disorders, recovery residences, prenatal substance exposure, and child welfare.
