CHDI is celebrating our third straight year being recognized by the Hartford Business Journal as one of Connecticut's "Best Places to Work" for 2024.
The award honors organizations that rank highest in employee satisfaction as determined by a survey administered by the Workforce Research Group. The winners were honored at a (Willy Wonka-themed!) ceremony on March 7th and profiled in a special issue of the Hartford Business Journal and New Haven Biz.
“It’s the people at CHDI who make this a great place to work,” said President and CEO Jeffrey Vanderploeg. “We have an incredible team of people who care about each other and the important work we do on behalf of children and families.”
CHDI received high marks for the organization's generous employee benefits, hybrid schedule, cooperative and inclusive culture, commitment to diversity, equity, and anti-racism, and healthy work-life balance. Our "Sunshine Committee" was highlighted for organizing fun events to help our staff (many of whom work remotely 3-4 days a week) reconnect as a team.
Here are a few comments from the anonymous staff survey about why they like working for CHDI:
"CHDI is incredibly attuned to creating a healthy work-life balance."
"CHDI has a positive, collaborative, supportive culture that welcomes input from across the organization."
"Meaningful work, supportive leadership, wonderful co-workers."
"They are consistently, in a non-performative way, working to improve inclusivity, diversity, and equity in all aspects of our work and as an organization in total."
"Love the work we do for the children and families in CT."
CHDI attracts and hires a multi-disciplinary team of people who are passionate, self-motivated, and highly effective at what they do. Our culture reflects the organization’s values of collaboration, accountability, respect, equitable action, and anti-racism.
