The RepublicanAmerican published an article "Schools Seeing Fewer Suspensions" about Governor Malloy's meeting at the Wallace Middle School in Waterbury reporting on the success of the School-Based Diversion Initiative. Wallace had 293 in-school suspensions and 374 out-of-school suspensions in the 2015-2016 school year. Those figures are considerably lower than 2011-12, when the school had 869 in-school suspensions and 807 out-of-school suspensions.
