There are many factors that influence a child's health. Housing, nutrition, transportation, education, and social support all shape the health of children and their family members.
CHDI is working with the Office of Health Strategy to ensure the state's Health Enhancement Community (HEC) initiative - which is committed to two main goals, Child Well Being and Healthy Weight - employs best practices and innovations that will ensure the health and development of children.
HECs are community hubs designed to work collaboratively across sectors to improve the social, economic, and physical conditions affecting the health and well-being of community members.
By mitigating the impact of the social determinants of health, Connecticut can improve health equity, enhance population health, and decrease health expenditures.
